Equity Minded Teaching Resources

Culturally Responsive Teaching combines neuroscience, educational theories, and cultural competency to close the achievement gap. Teachers should know and affirm student experiences, build community, engage authentically, and build on experiences.

The Learners

Educators and workplace trainers who teach and mentor students and new team members.

The Challenge

Education and training often rely on apprenticeship-style learning, unwritten norms, and “learn by doing it the way we’ve always done it.” Those habits can leave out students and new professionals whose backgrounds, prior experiences, or ways of learning don’t match the tradition. Educators often value inclusion but need practical, research-based strategies they can apply in a shop, studio, or classroom.

The Design Strategy

I present several resources here, some designed and written with colleagues, to connect research to everyday teaching.
